Henri Oguike - the winner of Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards 2007 for outstanding repertoire - celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a retrospective programme of some of the best works by its award-winning choreographer.
Oguike’s signature piece, the searing and poignant Front Line opens the evening. This critically acclaimed sextet is performed to Shostakovich’s 9th Quartet, played live by The Pavão Quartet. By contrast, Scarlatti’s bright and rhythmic pieces for harpsichord provide the starting point for White
Space, a stylish septet in which music, movement and visuals interplay. Falling, Oguike’s groundbreaking dance-film was inspired by NASA astronaut Steve MacLean’s space, whilst Finale is a full company work which brings pure sunshine to the stage. Set to the carnival rhythms of René Aubry’s music, this joyous piece will send you home on a high!
